This Saturday, September 10th, Alvaro’s fanclub will start their annual summer fiesta at 10 AM in Talavera de la Reina with Bati of course also attending the festivities.

It’s already the third time the fanclub organizes the fiesta and this year it’ll be bigger than ever, boasting a variety of activities that are sure to delight the hundreds and hundreds of fans of the Rizla Suzuki rider who will make the way to the “City of Ceramics” in Castile-La Mancha to enjoy a fun day with their hero.

It will kick off at 10AM in front of the fanclub’ s headquarters – the Sport Center de Complejo Estoril – which is the starting point of a bike route which will go along different parts of the region, including the municipality of San Martín de Pusa where Álvaro has a street named after him.

After this tour the next stop will be the Karting Club de Carreras, located at the Polígono de Cazalegas, where the participants will enjoy paella to regain strength for the remainder of the day and night. At the same place several sports exhibitions will be held, such as Supermoto and Karts, and anyone who wants can participate for the price of 10 Euros.

By mid-afternoon the appearance of Alvaro himself is expected and he’s already made a lot of noise for the party on Twitter in recent days and seems very excited to join his fans for some fun times.

So, if you’re in the area tomorrow, don’t miss out!

Finally home – Álvaro out of hospital and back in Talavera de la Reina

After a long and stressful journey, Álvaro Bautista has finally made it back home, more than a week after he broke his femur in a high-speed crash at the Losail circuit.

Now he’s back with his family and friends, arriving in his home town Talavera de la Reina today with his close family and his manager Armando Guerrero, who had been by his side the entire time since the crash.
In front of his home he was greeted by the rest of his family and members of his fanclub who gave him standing ovations upon arrival and had prepared a huge banner which read: “Always keep the spirit high, we know that you are strong and this is just another test that you will soon pass. We watch when you practice, we cheer you on when you race and when you crash we help you back up.”

Bautista thanked everyone for the great reception and on crutches he got out of the family car and walked around to greet those present. He also talked about his journey in the past days: “These past few days have been difficult. But I’m home now with my people and I think about recovering quickly and getting back on the bike.”
“From the day when I had the crash I had in mind that I wanted to come to Spain, so that I can be operated by my regular doctor, Angel Villamor, but it was a complicated situation and the doctors there advised me against traveling with my broken leg. We thought it was an easy operation and it actually was and went very well, but what happend was that there were complications when I had an incision of 30 cm to let out the blood. The essential thing was to return to Spain and it was hard. They were difficult times and I thank those who made it possible to bring a medical plane, because without it I didn’t see an end to it”, he added.

Regarding his possible return to racing, Alvaro set his sight on the Portuguese Grand Prix: “My goal is to be in Estoril. It is a month of recovery and when I now put weight on the foot it is difficult. I know I have to work hard, it is my goal and I know I can reach it.”

But he is very aware of his limitations: “I lack mobility in the knee and it will be difficult. The level of strength is not that urgent to recover, because I have not lost much, but the mobility to get on the bike and in left-hand corners. There I need to have good flexibility. That’s the hardest and this will be our aim.”

After these hard times Alvaro Bautista prefers to move on and forget the Qatar GP: “The shock of the crash is over. For better or for worse, crashes happen and injuries too. The worst was the time I spent in the hospital where I was bleeding and everything because of that crash. It was a difficult time, but we must move on. I’ll recover and get back on the bike.”

All the very best wishes from everyone at Vroom Media for a quick and full recovery!

Planned Talavera street circuit receives more political support, Alvaro “honoured” to be namesake

Planned Talavera street circuit receives more political support, Alvaro “honoured” to be namesake

The President of Castilla-La Mancha, José María Barreda, assured his complete commitment to the new logistics platform in Talavera de la Reina, an ambitious project that will occupy about 260 hectar of land and include large area logistics, intermodal capacities and a new street circuit to be named after Alvaro Bautista.

In a press conference at Talavera de la Reina today Barreda was joined by the city’s mayor José Francisco Rivas as well as the circuit’s namesake Alvaro Bautista. They presented the feasibility analysis of the new logistics platform which will generate approximately 1300 new jobs and looks to be an economic chance for the city and the whole region.

President Barreda claimed to have a lot of faith and confidence in Talavera and its future because “We have huge potential if we’re smart and can develop” and he underlined the ambition of the city and the entire region to strengthen their economic position fundamentally. In regards to the planned street circuit he is convinced it could draw a lot of spectators, especially because it is conveniently located so near to Madrid. Talavera’s mayor Rivas also reaffirmed that “it’s not just a sporting infrastructure but a complete economic tool”. The complete logistics platform project requires an investment of more than 250 million Euros and would re-establish Talavera de la Reina as a logistics junction in southwestern Spain.

Alvaro affirmed that it’s a great honour for him to be the namesake of a new circuit and trusts the local government to make the project happen. “Now it’s a matter of time and that it will be realized as soon as possible, to multiply the possibilities of the city. I hope everything goes well, because there are many people who could use this circuit – there are many street riders who go for a track day and many car and motorcycle factories which rent the track for testing.” And he also believes that the city could really profit from it, like hotels, restaurants and the economy in general.

Regarding the track itself it’s supposed to be “a circuit like Cheste (Valencia) or Aragon, designed to host international races” even though with four Grand Prix races already held in Spain it’d be difficult to include a fifth. “However, I still hope it will go ahead, because it will be a good economic contribution for the city and residents in central Spain who don’t have a chance to go to other circuits could take advantage of this.”

Talavera de la Reina to build “Álvaro Bautista” street circuit

Talavera de la Reina to build “Álvaro Bautista” street circuit

Spanish news agencies reported today that Alvaro’s hometown of Talavera de la Reina is planning a street circuit for cars and bikes which is also hoped to be homologated for championship races. The circuit will be named “Álvaro Bautista” in Bati’s honour and according to the city’s mayor José Francisco Rivas they have already reserved an area of 260 hectare between the A-5 and the N-502 and generally planned the layout of the track.

So far the racing in Spain focused on the areas Valencia and Catalunya with the central of Spain having only the small Jarama circuit which due to neighbourhood complaints, lack of modernisation and subsequent safety issues doesn’t host many racing events anymore and no motorcycle championships at all. And with a lack of street circuits in proximity (the nearest one being over 200 kilometers away from Talavera) it has been generally viewed as an incredible achievement of both Alvaro Bautista and Julian Simon to make it that far in the MotoGP championship, coming from the municipality of Toledo, which wasn’t known for street racing before, instead of the MotoGP heartlands Catalunya or Valencia.
The new circuit in Talavera de la Reina shall change that and put the central of Spain on the racing map. According to Rivas the plan is supported by the regional government as well as they will work together to build the new circuit.

Alvaro and his fanclub celebrate second summer fiesta in Talavera

Alvaro’s official fanclub celebrated its second summer fiesta in Bati’s hometown Talavera de la Reina last Saturday. As always Alvaro himself was of course there to spend a few hours with his fans, family and friends. To start things off he showed up in his Rizla Suzuki leathers and took a few laps on his Suzuki Supermoto bike around an impromptu track on a parking lot. Later he joined the festivities and posed for photos with everyone who asked. As it is well known, Alvaro always takes care of all his fans – who are not only from Talavera or even just from Spain, but from all over the world.

But there were many more attractions for the fans who attended the fiesta, including an original-sized F1 simulator, remote-controlled minibike races, attractions for the kids and a concert in the evening with three bands from Talavera.

Due to conflicting schedules unfortunately the BatiFans crew was not able to attend the fiesta this year, but we’ll be back in Talavera for the end of season Fanclub dinner. See you all then!

Alvaro joins Welcome party for David Arroyo

Alvaro’s hometown Talavera de la Reina welcomed their successful cyclist David Arroyo back into its arms after he finished the Giro D’Italia in second place, wearing the pink shirt for 5 days. The Talaveranos organized a big welcome party with lots of bikers in pink shirts to pay tribute to their bicycle hero.
As a training partner and good friend of David, Alvaro of course had to be there as well before he leaves to Italy himself for the Grand Prix in Mugello this weekend and he expressed his happiness for his friend to the press.

“There are good athletes in Talavera and they get better and better. I am very happy for the success on two wheels and for David, because he is a great friend of mine. We have the same trainer and ride the bike together from time to time.
These achievements don’t come by chance, there is hard work behind it and a lot of sacrifice, and when David achieves this he has done it because he fights for it every day and it’s a great reward for all the effort.”

On that note we hope that Alvaro’s efforts to get fit again will also pay off this weekend in Mugello. Vamos Bati!

Positive first year balance for Fan’s Club

Last Saturday the Fan’s Club Alvaro Bautista had it’s first annual member meeting in Talavera de la Reina to evaluate the first year of its existence. Overall it’s been a positive balance.
Club president César Mendoza said “As everyone knows we started with nothing and we ended the year with a number of 1800 members and a bit of capital at our hands. It’s not much, but it’s enough to start the year with a bit of joy and giving our best for the members. The less we have to spend and the more we can give back to the fans, the better.” The new budget is about 8000 Euros. “We had some plus, so we start this year better than the last one, because we want to invest it for our members, the ones who really deserve it are true fans of Alvaro.”

The event calender for this year again has a lot of travel for the fanclub members in store. Additionally to the three Spanish GP rounds (Jerez, Catalunya, Valencia), they’ll also be present at Estoril and Misano this season to support Alvaro during the race weekends.
On location in Talavera the fanclub will continue with its big annual celebration and also be present again at the Talavera fair. But there will also be two new events. One will be a bike meeting, hosted together with their sponsor La Sixtina, and the other will be a kids fest, “so that the children of Talavera are getting to know Alvaro and the world of motorcycles and that everybody knows about us and what we do, because Alvaro and Talavera is known worldwide; that everybody speaks about us and speaks well, of course.”

Alvaro’s father Javier and his manager Armando were both present at the fanclub meeting while Alvaro himself was already flying to Japan on Saturday to visit the Suzuki factory. From there he travels to the next MotoGP test in Sepang which will start with test riders tomorrow and see the official riders on track from Thursday.
Mendoza affirmed that Alvaro feels very good ahead of this new stage in his career and that right now he just wants to get used to the bike and see what the real potential is of him and the bike with the new engine.
