IRTA Test Jerez, Day 2 Results: Most of the day lost as rain hits the track

SV March 24, 2012 News No Comments

As rain, windy conditions and colder temperatures hit the Jerez track today, the MotoGP riders spent most of their day indoors, some of them barely completing a handful of laps on their bikes. It looked like CRT rider Ivan Silva would take the crown of the fastest laptime of the day until in the final hour the sun made an appearance and the circuit started to dry out, allowing the riders to venture out with slick tyres in the final minutes and improve their own laptimes and eventually also take over at the front. Nicky Hayden squeezed out the most of the final minutes and posted the fastest time of the day, but it still was almost three seconds behind Casey Stoner’s best effort from yesterday.

Álvaro finished the day fourth-fastest, both in wet and in dry conditions, as Dani Pedrosa was the fastest man in wet conditions, trying his Honda RC213V over race distance and calling it a day early before the track had dried up at the end.

There’s one more day left for the MotoGP field to test everything they have left on their task lists and everyone will hope for better weather tomorrow to get things done, so it could be a busy final day at Jerez before they meet again for the first race of the season at Qatar in April.
